9-11 Stair Climb Signup

In consideration of my being allowed to attend and participate in the following Northern campus event: 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb: Sponsored by the Aberdeen Firefighters Local 446, I, the undersigned, on behalf of myself, my executor(s), administrator(s), personal representative(s), heirs, assigns, and any other successor(s) in interest, do hereby voluntarily assume all risks in connection with my attendance, participation and use of facilities and/or equipment of Northern State University and Aberdeen Firefighters Local 446, in connection with the aforementioned event, and do hereby irrevocably and forever release, save, indemnify and hold harmless Northern State University, the South Dakota Board of Regents, the Aberdeen Firefighters Local 446, and the State of South Dakota, its officers, employees and representatives, from any harm, illness, injury or loss which might befall me or my property as a result of my attendance, participation and use of facilities and/or equipment in connection with the above referenced event, including all risks connected therewith, whether foreseen or unforeseen, and from all legal claims or legal liabilities of any kind, nature and description involving or relating to any property or personal injury, illness, mental or bodily injury, loss, damage or death suffered or sustained by me, including court costs and attorney fees, arising out of my attendance, participation and use of facilities and/or equipment in connection with the above referenced event on the premises of Northern State University which may hereafter accrue. I understand that there are inherent risks associated with attending and participating in the event listed above. Northern State University encourages speaking with a healthcare professional prior to attending any event that may include such risks to determine any limitations or considerations resulting from your personal circumstances which you should be aware of prior to attending/participating. I agree that my safety is primarily dependent upon my taking proper care of myself. I agree to make sure that I know how to safely participate in the event, and I agree to observe any rules and practices that may be employed to minimize the risk of injury, including without limitation, the proper use and/or wear of any and all protective or safety gear associated with the event. I agree to stop and seek assistance if I do not believe I can safely continue in the event and to otherwise limit my participation to reflect my personal fitness and emotional health. Individuals are advised to stop participating and consult with a licensed physician if at any time before, during or after event if they feel any symptoms including, but not limited to: dizziness, fainting or feeling of fainting; impaired vision; pain in the chest; neck; jaw; arms or head; shortness of breath; swelling of joints; or unusual or excessive fatigue. I hereby consent to receive any emergency medical treatment deemed advisable during my participation in the event listed above. I understand that participating in campus events while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is unsafe and may violate Northern State University’s policies and philosophy on drugs and alcohol. Northern State University staff reserve the right to remove any individual they believe to be under the influence. Northern State University staff reserve the right to remove, suspend, or terminate my participation or attendance as they see fit for unsafe behavior, failure to follow rules applicable to the specific campus event, or violation(s) of the Student Code of Conduct. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and fully accept these terms, and do so freely, voluntarily and without inducement, understanding and intending the same to effectuate an unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent permitted by law.
